Over the weekend, we held the first meeting of our current Escalation League and I have to say.. I was super impressed with the number of participants we have this time..
At the final meeting of our last League we finished with only 4 people.. definitely not a strong showing. This year has seen a dramatic shift in the size of our 40k community at Thou Shalt Game. Our TSG 40k FB page started with only 10ish members a little over a year ago and as of today sits at a massive 45 players with a vast majority of them coming on board in just the last 3 months or so.
Leading up to the League, Mags and I both had talked to a ton of people about playing in the League and using it as the perfect tool to learn the game, start a new army, or build upon an existing one. So we had high hopes for the initial turnout.. and we were not disappointed. 20 players signed up for the League with just about every army being represented. Here is the breakdown:
1x Blood Angels
2x Chaos Space Marines
1x Chaos Demons
1x Codex Marines
4x Dark Angels
1x Dark Eldar
3x Eldar
2x Grey Knights
1x Imperial Guard
2x Necrons
1x Orks
1x Tyranids
The ones that were left out, off the top of my head... Tau, Sisters of Battle, Black Templars. I wasn't surprised by those but Space Wolves are also off the board, which is very surprising to me... and of course the NKotB is represented the most.. Go Figure, time to bust out all those closet Dark Angel armies :)
We had three undefeated players on the day; 2 of our Veterans, of which Mags' was one, and also a returning from 4e Dark Angel player..
So Congrats to Them!!!
Current League Standings:
First:
Chaos Demons & Eldar (17pts)
Second:
Tyranids (15pts)
Third:
Necrons (13pts)
I meant to take a bunch of pictures and post up some epic shots of army on army action but as the only TO, I was pulled in so many directions that taking pictures just slipped my mind. This will be corrected for our February meeting at 1k points.. All of our players will have more games under their belts by then so there should be less of my presence needed around the tables...
Until Next Time...

Would it still be possible to get in on the league? If so what day is it?how do it work?
ReplyDeleteSure, still time to jump in.. you just would not earn points for the first meeting. Meeting is at 1100 on the 4th Sunday of every month.
DeleteHow does it work*
ReplyDeleteFirst you would have to pay the $10 initiation fee and also a $5 buy in at every meeting you attend. Each meeting plays 3 games; 5 for a win, 3 for a tie, 1 for a loss. 1pt for having your army painted and based, 1pt for showing on game day. Next meeting is 1k, allies and all forts allowed.. at end of league, 1/2 money goes to the one with the most points, the other half goes to best painted by popular vote. Those are the basics anyway...
DeleteThat sounds pretty cool how many weeks is it ?
ReplyDeleteThere are 5 more meetings. One per month until June.
