The Wee Budget Green Knights Templar: Getting Started

I do not know about the rest of you, but I am NOT burdened by the weight of my wallet; in fact, it often seems to be very, very light.
Often when I hear people talking about 40K and this or that army, they discuss the cost of fielding and army on the table top.

Taking into consideration the previous two statements, and the fact that I have recently decided to change the army that I will be fielding for our FLGS Escalation League;  I decided to take the opportunity to see how cheaply I could field a valid 2K Tournament army.

To do this, I have decided to use as many components from the AoBR marines as possible. Each 500 block, I will show how much it costs and the current running total and at the end, we will see if I can field a viable 2K tournament army for under $400 dollars.
This has required me to shop around on the internet, but I was able to get some pretty good deals.
Part One: January and February
AoBR Tactical Squad: $18.95 with Shipping and Handling
Metal Emperor's Champion: $18.16 with Shipping and Handling
AoBR Terminators: $17.95 with Shipping and Handling
AoBR Terminators: $16.49 with Shipping and Handling
8 Reaper "Cyclone" Launchers: $9.79 with Shipping and Handling

Part One Total: $81.34

Thoughts: Considering a GW Box of Terminators cost $50 dollars and even with a 20% discount, we are talking about $40 dollars for 5 Terminators. Add in the cost of a Cyclone Missile Launcher from any bit seller and you are talking about a minimum of $55 dollars to field a squad of Shooting Terminators with two Cyclones. A GW box of Tactical marines cost $37.25, even with a 20% discount, that is $29.80 for 10 guys. I hate Finecast, so after much searching, I found a Metal Emperor's Champion that cost me $3 (15.25) dollars more than the finecast model, but to me it was worth the cost.

Assuming a 20% percent discount on GW Product, excluding Finecast and the total would have been: $100.50.  If you add in the fact that I have all the Cyclones I will need for the entire army, the cost is even lower, but suffice to say we have already saved about $19 dollars off GW prices and we already have a portion of the terminators we will need for our next 500 point increase, so we are ahead of the game.

Alright, stay tuned for the next installment of Wee Budget...and keep your eyes on the blog as I start to paint and field this army.
