Escalation League: Month Two
The second round of games is this weekend and what can I say, I've been a total slacker. Up until Monday I had nothing painted out of my 500pt force. Now I'm in crunch mode trying to get my 12 troopers painted before Saturday. The good news is it's Wednesday AM and I'm a 3rd of the way home.
Since I've been attempting to duplicate the work of several other artists, it's been really slow going trying to get something that approximated what I already had but with a couple of test models down, I think I have something pretty close... so I'm going to run with it. I might get around to posting some comparison model shots before the week is out...
Seeing what armies were brought to the table last month, I decided to change up my list a tad. With all the horde armies in the league and only 3 vehicles that I saw (which were a Speeder in Dawson's Dark Angels, and 2 Annihilation Barges in Monster's Necrons), the Meltagun I had was not doing me any favors. So I took out that badboy, and some melta bombs, and threw in a Plasmagun. I was seriously tempted to add a second flamer but I'm a fan of the plasma so I went that route instead. For my anti-tank I will just rely on my Libby's Blood Lance to get the job done.
The New & Improved list is as follows:
JP Librarian w/ Plasma Pistol (Blood Lance & Unleash Rage)
JP Priest w/ Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon, & Melta Bombs
10x JP Assault Squad
1x Flamer
1x Plasmagun
Sgt w/ Plasma Pistol & Power Fist
That's it, basically the same 12 dudes I had last time. The 5 plasma shots @ 12" should help against the MC's as well as thin out the horde armies and with FnP, I'm not too concerned about overheating... Unleash Rage will make my 12 guys feel like 20 on the charge so hopefully that works in my favor. I look forward to the games this weekend so wish me some luck... I need to improve upon my 1-1-1 record.
Until Next Time, Keep Rolling....

Looks like a fun little list!
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you on the painting crunch, I have a bunch of stuff to finish painting before the Bay Area Open on the 3rd. Although I do some of my best work under the gun for an event!

Hey Jim,
DeleteAs it sits right now, I've got 4 models completely done, 3 more about 40% there, and 5 models assembled/primed only.
I doubt they'll be my best work but I should have them all done in time for Saturday.
Your narrative event @ the BAO sounds like the bomb diggity!! Too bad I couldn't make it up there this year. :(
Yeah the event is shaping up quite nicely! There is always next year. I am also gonna be running a narrative event over Labor Day weekend at CelestiCon in Fremont, Ca. This year sees my return to event organizer, and I am loving it!
